Cottonwood Ranch ~ Wyoming
Y2 collaborated with Jonah Interagency Office, Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and many non-governmental organizations to evaluate wildlife and rangeland resources. Y2 developed conservation strategies with the landowner and public lands managers as well as habitat management plans to improve resources. We are currently working in conjuction with the BLM to develop term permit renewal NEPA documents for the ranch.
Winecup-Gamble Ranch ~ Nevada
This extensive project covered over 900,000 acres of private and public lands including Bureau of Land Management (BLM) grazing allotments. Y2 was tasked with overseeing compliance issues on these public grazing lands including monitoring vegetation, reviewing compliance with BLM decision and management documents, and assisting with grazing plan development and implementation. We provided technical comments on BLM decisions and proposals, including grazing permit renewals, and wildfire closures. We prepared conservation-oriented management actions and educational opportunities for the land owner and public land management agencies regarding stream and riparian restoration and grazing management. Y2 developed and maintained relationships with Nevada Division of Wildlife, Nevada Department of Environmental Protection, National Resources Conservation Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in order to ensure the success of the project. The work was completed through a Cooperative Monitoring Agreement with the BLM.
Teton Conservation District ~ Wyoming
This ongoing project focused on the Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Y2 worked collaboratively with Bridger-Teton National Forest, Teton Conservation District, and permittees. We selected monitoring sites employing GIS and collected rangeland vegetation data to be used in the NEPA process for permittees that utilize these allotments for grazing.
Maggie Creek Ranch ~ Nevada
Y2 collected baseline data on both private and public lands. We provide the ranch with technical information in order to make scientifically-based land management decisions. Maggie Creek has been nominated for numerous awards and won the prestigious Aldo Leopold award for Environmental Stewards in 2015. They have been recognized by Trout Unlimited for their Susie Creek restoration project that helps conserve threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout.
Star Valley Conservation District ~ Wyoming
This project centered on the Greys River Ranger District – one of six districts within the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Y2 worked collaboratively with allotment permittees, Bridger-Teton National forest, Lincoln County University of Wyoming Extension, Lincoln County Planning, and the Star Valley Conservation District to develop a riparian and upland plan and select monitoring sites. We collected valuable rangeland health data on the Forest Dell, Grover Blaney, Strawberry, Dry Creek, and Big Greys allotments. Y2 created a comprehensive monitoring report to facilitate management decisions by Federal land management agencies and livestock permittees.
